BACKGROUND
Inspired by a world far and wide, the Japanese-influenced meeting place is dedicated to serving an atmospheric experience through fine tunes and tantalising cuisine.
THE OPPORTUNITY
How can we elevate the fusion of Australian and Japanese culture in a way that celebrates the long-forgotten essence of the traditional party bar?
THE APPROACH
Carefully inspecting the brand’s primary objective: to celebrate the Japanese ‘party bar’ tradition, our team developed a comprehensive brand identity, honouring the foundations of the KISSUU spirit.
In exploring the definition of the name, we produced a captivating brand representation that spoke to the key themes of death, renewal and rebirth.
We achieved this through experimental graphic and typographic design, whereby exploring textured gradients and typefaces allowed us to invite the concept of fluidity, both in movement and personal experience.
This immersive experience is expressed by adopting a shifting colour palette that reflects a sense of emotional illusion. Our chosen primary colours are bold yet simplistic, exuding sensual movement when fused with soothing secondary colours.
Moving throughout the entire brand direction is an ode to traditional Japanese pattern makers, particularly Hokusai and Utamaro, to preserve the ceremony of Japanese party bars.
